The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research, including more than $107 million last year. The original painting on display entitled “Hope” was created by fine artist Laura Shubert and several children with Type 1 diabetes living in Central Florida. With “Hope,” their future of being cured will become a reality. This original artwork was auctioned off during the Live Auction at the JDRF Gala on October 1, 2011.
